For the frontispiece Picasso made an etching of a man wearing a laurel wreath which is thought to be a portrait of the author. He went on to create 30 additional etchings which were produced by Roger Lacourière. Published by Éditions Fragrance in an edition of 207 copies. Signed by both Césaire and Picasso.
