On October 25th, 2014 at 2pm CEST, dancers Raphaëlle Delaunay, Benjamin Pech, and Alice Renevand performed an original ballet choreographed by Pech, étoile dancer at the Ballet de l'Opera National de Paris, to compositions by Claude Debussy, Antonio Vivaldi, and contemporary composer Emanuele De Raymondi.
Comprising more than twenty monumental sculptures and paintings, "Le Jardin Décomposé" evokes an overlapping of city and nature, a place akin to botanist and writer Gilles Clément's characterization of the Third Landscape as "the space left over by man to landscape evolution—to nature alone." Participating artists include Chris Burden, Jeff Koons, Maurizio Cattelan, Giuseppe Penone, Dan Colen, Richard Prince, Michael Craig-Martin, Robert Therrien, Urs Fischer, Franz West, Carsten Höller, and Zeng Fanzhi.
FINAL DAYS... “Le Jardin Décomposé” is on view at Gagosian Gallery Le Bourget, Paris through Saturday, February 28th, 2015.
