Gagosian Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of new work by Italian artist Alberto di Fabio. Born in Arcinazzo in 1966, di Fabio studied at the Academia delle Belle Arti, Roma. He now lives and works in Rome and New York.

Di Fabio's work merges the worlds of art and science with themes of ecology and nature. His earlier paintings generally depict elements of the earth and the cosmos, while this new series explores genetic and biological structures of the human body such as DNA and viruses. Dark backgrounds ranging from black to green to gold pulsate with bursts of colour in the form of organic shapes that resemble flowers, fireworks and planets.

Di Fabio's group of large-scale paintings comprises the most extensive body of work on canvas that the artist has ever shown. Also included are works on paper of which one group is attached to canvas. The paper he uses is a special Chinese paper with inscriptions in red Chinese calligraphy of poems about love of the world and nature.

Di Fabio has exhibited in solo shows and numerous group shows throughout Europe as well as in New York, Mexico and Iran.
